Do you know how to change a tire? The first time you find yourself with a flat tire on the edge of the highway, you’ll wish that you did. Changing a tire is surprisingly easy—as long as you have a spare tire, an appropriate wrench, and a car jack.
The first step to change a tire is to ensure that you are in a safe location, likely at the side of the road, with your emergency lights on. Then, use the jack to loosen the lug nuts – but do not remove them yet.
Using the jack, lift your vehicle about six inches off the ground, and then remove the lug nuts entirely. Now you can remove the old tire, setting it aside. It should now be easy to put the new tire in its place, setting the lug nuts in place without fully tightening them.
Lower your vehicle back to the ground, and tighten the lug nuts. Instead of tightening each one individually, apply small amounts of pressure to each in turns, which will ensure that they are equally tight.
Please don’t leave any debris on the road – and then you are done! It’s as simple as that. For more tips, visit us anytime at Don Wessel Honda.
