When it comes to keeping you and your loved ones safe on the road, we know you want industry-leading safety. That is why you should choose a Honda.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has announced its crash test ratings for model year 2016 and a total of eight Honda and Acura vehicles earned the best Top Safety Pick+ rating.
These vehicles include the Honda Accord sedan and coupe, CR-V, and Pilot. Acura models earning the top rating are the ILX, RLX, MDX, and RDX.
Honda notes that the just released 2016 Honda Civic is expected to also receive a Top Safety Pick+ rating. In addition, the popular Odyssey minivan was named a Top Safety Pick.
“The fundamental notion of vehicle safety is evolving and with technologies like some of those in Honda Sensing and AcuraWatch, we are pursuing our vision to reduce and, ultimately, to eliminate vehicle collisions,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., in a statement. “This is one of our biggest challenges and an essential element of our commitment to making products that improve the lives of people.”
In order to be named a Top Safety Pick, a vehicle has to achieve a Good rating in all crash tests and have a standard or available front crash prevention system. To earn the + rating, vehicles need a superior- or advanced-rated front crash prevention system with automatic braking abilities.
