Often when people think of redesigned vehicles or upgrades to certain models, they’re picturing something bigger and better, but the 2018 Honda Accord designers took a different approach. For this year’s Honda Accord upgrades, the team behind the nameplate went back to the drawing board, eliminating the coupe body style, going for a lighter (but more efficient) engine, and even making the Accord itself smaller. However, these changes allowed the Honda Accord to grow in other ways.

For the 2018 model year, the Honda Accord has embraced a philosophy that focuses on improving the core tenants of the sedan segment, bringing better torque ratings, better fuel mileage, more rear seat legroom, and a more capable transmission to a class known for its jack-of-all-trades practicality. The V6 has also been dismissed, with the Honda Accord using a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder as its top powertrain option, delivering up to 273 lb-ft of torque, which is 21 lb-ft over previous models.

With seven trim levels and a hybrid option, these Honda Accord upgrades aren’t entirely minimalistic, but the plan to prune some well-known features and options to make room for new innovations has set a new standard for the Honda Accord. Check out the 2018 model at Don Wessel Honda.
