After a blisteringly cold winter, spring is a welcome change of pace around here—and is a great opportunity to get out of the house and explore the city we live in. Here are some fun things to do in Springfield, Missouri, this April.
Springfield Cardinals’ Home Opener
On April 12, head to Hammons Field for Opening Day for the Springfield Cardinals, the team that goes on to provide several awesome players to the St. Louis Cardinals. The gates open at 6:10 p.m., and the first pitch happens an hour later. Stay after the game for opening night fireworks.
Mozart’s The Magic Flute
On April 13 and 14, Mozart’s music comes to life at the Gillioz Theatre, thanks to the Springfield Regional Opera. The show lasts each night from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tickets range from $28 to $35 and are on sale now.
19th Annual Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival
If you like good St. Louis barbeque, then be sure to head to the Ozark Empire Fairground and Event Center on April 20th and 21st. Sample pork, chicken, and beef while enjoying live music, drinks, and a Kids Zone. The fun starts on Friday from 5 p.m to 11 p.m. and continues Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
